ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Hip hop pioneer DJ Afrika Bambaataa (bam-BAH’-tah) has been appointed to a three-year term as a visiting scholar at Cornell University.

The appointment announced Tuesday was made by Cornell University Library’s Hip Hop Collection in conjunction with the Ivy League school’s music department.

Bambaataa will visit Cornell’s upstate New York campus several days each year to talk to classes, meet with student and community groups, and perform the music he helped create and expand. His first visit will be in November.

Cornell officials say the university’s library contains the largest national archive on hip hop culture, documenting its birth and growth by preserving thousands of recordings, fliers, photographs and other artifacts.

Last night, Team SFPL took our talents to attend the NYC press reception for “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” castmembers Joseline, Stevie J, K.Michelle and Scrappy along with LHHATL executive producer Mona Scott Young, as the kicked off their press week  at the Griffin in the Meatpacking District.

Sponsored by Bartenura Moscato and Ciroc, the private event  was attended by over 75 New York media VIPs and featured an episode screening and a candid Q&A. The Q&A topics ranged from the status of Stevie J and Joseline’s relationship to Scrappy not wanting to pay child support to K.Michelle’s music career. It was a Q&A like no other, especially when the Joseline questions started rolling out …

The full LHHATL cast is set to tape the reunion show today.

Joesline’s comments alone sparked laughs, boos and cries, at the same damn time. Comments like; “I’m anInternational Superstar, where have you been?”, ”I do whatever my daddy (Stevie J) tells me to do” and “I’m not going no where, MiMi can do what she want’s.”

K. Michelle ( who was the crowd favorite) delighted the crowd when she revealed that today would be the first day she took a label meeting with a major label. She has some amazing things in the works and was beaming with happiness. That is until she took the mic and blasted all parties involved in the slander of her name for theMemphits situation.

” You need to address the real situation and refrain from coming at me, cause when you come for me, I come right BACK!”

Welp.

Scrappy continuously reiterated that despite the editing he loves and appreciates his baby Momma, Ericka very much. And on his Mother he stated,  ”If getting checks with my mama makes me a mama’s boy, then I guess I’m a mama’s boy.”

Stay Tuned to SFPL, for our exclusive interview with Stevie J, Joseline and K. Michelle in a few posts.

The Real Housewives of Miami is welcoming a few new (and probably plastic) faces to its second season.

Joining returning cast members Lea Black, Adriana de Moura, and Marysol Patton are Lisa Hochstein, Joanna Krupa, Ana Quincoces, and Karent Sierra. Hochstein, who dubs herself a “professional housewife” and has appeared in Playboy, is married to Miami’s “boob god” plastic surgeon Dr. Lenny Hochstein. Krupa is a Polish model and actress who — wouldn’t you know it — has also appeared in Playboy.

Quincoces, meanwhile, describes herself as a “straight-shooting Cuban dynamo who tells it like it is.” Sierra is Miami’s top celebrity dentist and has been dating telenovela star Rodolfo Jiménez for the past few years.

The Brooklyn Nets unveiled their brand-new logos on Monday morning.
The Nets will have a black-and-white color scheme, which pays homage to the old New York subway signage system.
The Nets will have a pair of primary logos. The first features a shield and the name “NETS” accompanied by the letter “B” inside a basketball and “BROOKLYN” underneath. The second features the letter “B” inside a basketball encircled by “BROOKLYN NEW YORK.”
“Hello, Brooklyn! I’ve been waiting a long time to say that,” center Brook Lopez said at the team’s formal logo unveiling at the Modell’s Sporting Goods store across the street from the team’s new home, the Barclays Center.
